About the Role

Duolingo's design team creates high-quality experiences that look and feel fun across mobile apps, website, brand voice, email newsletters, and community events. This staff-level position offers leadership within a culture emphasizing creativity, craft excellence, and innovation in educational design.

Responsibilities

  • Design and prototype simple, playful learning experiences for the Duolingo app
  • Drive large work streams across your team with independence — you'll lead
  • Serve as a peer leader and mentor across Duolingo Design
  • Collaborate with other designers and artists to expand Duolingo's design language
  • Partner with engineers and product managers to define what gets built and how
  • Consider every detail of the experience: copy, animation, UI, and business impact
  • Incorporate AI tools at every step of the creative process
  • Requirements

  • Online portfolio featuring simple consumer mobile apps
  • Highest standards for visual design and interaction details
  • Fluency creating high-fidelity prototypes quickly
  • Experience shipping products at scale in a product organization
  • Ability to explain work and decisions simply and concisely
  • Openness to feedback and continuous improvement
  • Capability solving complex problems amid ambiguity
