Senior Product Design Manager at Duolingo

Location: New York, NY or Pittsburgh, PA

Salary: $200,000 – $300,000 USD

Type: Full-time

About the Role

Duolingo is looking for a Senior Product Design Manager to lead and grow a high-performing design team shaping delightful, effective learning experiences used by over 500 million learners worldwide.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a diverse design team across multiple product areas
  • Partner with Product and Engineering leadership on strategy and roadmap execution
  • Set and uphold design craft standards across visual design, interactions, and animation
  • Use data and experimentation to inform design decisions
  • Work directly with executives on product development priorities
  • Drive design excellence across the Duolingo experience — from mobile apps to brand voice

    • Requirements

  • 8+ years in product design with significant people management experience
  • Online portfolio demonstrating consumer mobile app design excellence
  • Proven track record leading and growing design teams
  • Strong collaboration skills across cross-functional teams
  • Ability to balance craft quality with business objectives
  • Experience shipping products at scale

    • Exceptional Candidates Will Have

  • Experience at high-growth consumer tech companies
  • Background in educational technology or gamification
  • Fluency with prototyping tools and design systems
  • Experience incorporating AI tools into the design process
  • Strong presentation and stakeholder management skills

    • Compensation & Benefits
