Product Designer, People Innovation Labs at OpenAI

Location: San Francisco, CA (On-site)

Salary: $230,000 – $385,000 + equity

Type: Full-time

About the Role

OpenAI seeks a Product Designer for People Innovation Labs, an internal team focused on reimagining talent acquisition and retention through AI-powered solutions. Collaborate with product, engineering, and AI research teams to create systems that enhance recruiting and workplace culture.

Responsibilities

  • Direct overall design strategy for internal People products
  • Design and ship high-quality products from early concepts to high-fidelity prototypes
  • Collaborate with engineering, product management, and AI research peers on strategy and tactics
  • Conduct user research to refine products
  • Contribute to and maintain design systems
  • Foster design culture and expand the team

    • Qualifications

  • 4+ years shipping substantial software products
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating UX, UI, and interaction design excellence
  • Ability to navigate complex interaction design challenges
  • Effective communication and storytelling capabilities
  • Comfort tackling ambiguous problems and establishing clear vision
  • Enthusiasm for AI research and defining how AI-first products should look
