About The Role
Opendoor seeks a Director, Brand Design to bridge product and marketing — a hybrid thinker who crafts beautiful, scalable systems. This player-coach role sits within the Growth organization and requires partnering across Product Design, Creative, and Communications teams. The position aims to ensure consistency across all customer touchpoints while leveraging design systems as a growth mechanism.
What You'll Do
Design System Leadership
Translate brand strategy into modern, scalable design systems encompassing tokens, color, typography, iconography, illustration, motion, and accessibility for both product and marketing use.Lead a complete refresh of Opendoor's design system with governance, documentation, versioning, and adoption strategies.Build modular guidelines and templates enabling internal teams and external partners to maintain quality while moving quickly.Product x Marketing Integration
Infuse brand personality into in-product experiences including onboarding, confirmations, animations, and empty states.Design growth surfaces: website, landing pages, offer flows, onboarding, email/CRM, and paid media destinations.Champion end-to-end customer journeys ensuring visual and emotional consistency from first impression to closed deal.Creative, Content, and Performance
Concept and deliver integrated campaigns connecting seamlessly to product experiences.Create systems for performance creative across CRM, web, social, programmatic, video, outdoor, and retail channels.Infuse motion and storytelling to convey warmth, confidence, and humanity to the brand.Leadership, Operations, and Collaboration
Serve as connector across Marketing, Product Design, Communications, Data, and Media functions.Establish design quality standards, accessibility guidelines, and localization guidance.Manage agency relationships and mentor designers; opportunity to build a team over time.What You'll Need
8–12+ years in brand, visual, or graphic design (tech, fintech, or consumer marketplace experience preferred)Portfolio demonstrating storytelling and systems thinking — brand expressed across UI, campaigns, and contentProven track record building and scaling design systems used by product and marketing teamsStrong cross-functional collaboration skillsMastery of Figma and modern design workflows; motion design and illustration familiarity valuedAI fluency with demonstrated mastery of AI-powered design tools (Midjourney, Magnific, Runway, etc.)Player-coach mindset balancing strategic direction-setting with hands-on executionCompensation: Base pay $140,000 to $192,500 annually, plus RSUs and bonuses.
