Product Designer, Growth at OpenAI

Location: San Francisco, CA (Hybrid — 3 days/week in office)

Salary: $207,000 – $295,000 + equity

Type: Full-time

Shape how millions discover and gain value from ChatGPT. This role sits at the intersection of product design, experimentation, and storytelling, balancing user needs with business objectives.

Responsibilities

Design end-to-end experiences promoting understanding, trust, and user retention

Collaborate with product, engineering, and content teams to run experiments and ship improvements

Translate complex AI capabilities into intuitive, accessible interfaces

Leverage both data and research insights while trusting design instincts

Contribute to OpenAI's design systems and brand voice

Help establish design culture and expand the team

Qualifications

Strong portfolio showing thoughtful product design with growth/onboarding experience

Comfort working in fast cycles — sketching, prototyping, testing rapidly

Ability to balance qualitative insights with quantitative metrics

Excellent communication and collaborative skills

Genuine curiosity about AI's impact on user behavior
