About the Role

OpenAI seeks an experienced Designer for its growing in-house creative team. This role showcases how products are visualized and communicated across digital and real-world touchpoints. It's a senior, hands-on position requiring strong product instincts and exceptional visual craft.

The role brings to life OpenAI's voice at a moment when the story is still being written through new product launches. Close collaboration with agency partners is essential, merging the objectives and cultures of two dynamic studios.

Key Responsibilities

  • Embed deeply with design teams at agency partner and OpenAI, bridging two distinct creative cultures
  • Develop and foster partnerships with design, motion, production, and agency teams to bring ideas to life
  • Collaborate with Product, Comms, and Marketing to ensure narrative consistency and impact
  • Manage multiple complex projects simultaneously with clarity and confidence
  • Maintain high standards for craft across typography, layout, composition, and image-making
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure work is accurate, cohesive, and aligned to product strategy
  • Manage projects end-to-end, including hands-on design and guiding external partners when needed

    Qualifications

    Experience Requirements:

  • 6+ years managing design for brands at creative agencies known for excellence in craft and close collaboration with design teams
  • Experience at companies known for frontier design excellence and lasting cultural impact
  • In-house experience at modern technology companies with compelling product mixes

    • Required Skills & Attributes:

  • Visionary designer with experience supporting design directions that elevate and position iconic brand designs emotionally
  • Portfolio demonstrating exceptional product visualization and polished design execution across channels
  • Highly hands-on, detail-oriented, comfortable in fast-moving, high-visibility environments
  • Strong judgment, clear point of view, and collaborative working style
  • Experience with 3D workflows and rendering
  • Familiarity with AI-enabled creative workflows

    Compensation & Benefits

    **Salary Range:** $216,000 – $240,000 per year

    **Additional Compensation:** Equity offered
