Senior Product Design Engineer @ Eight Sleep

About the Role

Eight Sleep seeks an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer for product development from concept through production. This San Francisco-based position requires 5 days/week in-office commitment.

Key Responsibilities

  • "Architect and design complex electromechanical systems, including plastic, metal, and soft goods components integrated with novel sensors and actuators"
  • "Drive designs across the entire development lifecycle, including brainstorming, CAD, prototyping, testing, and ramp into production in Asia"
  • "Solve highly cross-functional problems by working with electrical, software, reliability, and manufacturing engineering teams"
  • "Perform analysis and testing to ensure designs meet product goals, including thermal, fluid, and structural analyses"
  • Help shape product direction through collaboration with industrial design, marketing, product teams, and leadership

    • Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years consumer product design experience with injection molding, sheet metal forming, and sensor/electronics integration
  • Experience shipping high-volume consumer products with Asian manufacturing support
  • High proficiency in 3D modeling software (Solidworks, NX, Creo)
  • Knowledge of DFM/DFA, tolerance analysis, and geometric tolerancing
  • Understanding of root cause analysis, design of experiments, and quality techniques
  • BSME or equivalent degree
  • Willingness to travel to China as needed

    • Compensation & Benefits

    Salary: $140,000–$200,000 annually with equity participation
