# Founding Design Engineer at Finta

Position Overview

Finta seeks a Founding Design Engineer in San Francisco, CA to elevate the company's product design and user experience. This is a founding-level role offering significant influence over product direction and company culture.

    Key Responsibilities

  • Build and evolve Finta's design system with components, tokens, patterns, and motion language
  • Ship polished UI across product, marketing, and website
  • Create reusable interface building blocks (data tables, filters, navigation, animations)
  • Bring modern interaction design to Rails with "fluid transitions" and "micro-interactions"
  • Explore emerging UI patterns for AI-driven interfaces
  • Collaborate directly with leadership on product vision and execution quality

    • Required Qualifications

  • Deep expertise in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Production experience with Rails, Hotwire, Turbo, Stimulus, Tailwind, or ViewComponent
  • Demonstrated obsession with animation timing, spacing, and interaction polish
  • Daily use of AI tools (Cursor, Claude, or similar)
  • Strong visual design sensibility
  • Portfolio demonstrating shipped work with exceptional feel and polish
  • Bias toward rapid iteration over perfect mockups

  • Prefer design-to-engineering handoffs in Figma
  • View animations as unnecessary
  • Avoid experimenting with new tools
  • Resist AI-assisted development
  • Need heavy structure and narrow scope
