Director of Product Design

Role Overview: Leading design teams across Duolingo's products, from mobile apps to brand voice. Reports to Head of Product Design.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and expand a diverse design team while maintaining high-quality product standards
  • Develop and coach designers and design managers on skill advancement
  • Partner with Product and Engineering leadership to ensure strategic alignment
  • Foster a culture of excellence in design execution
  • Scale the design organization through headcount planning

    • Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years in product design with people management experience, including managing managers
  • Proven hiring, interviewing, and onboarding track record
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities
  • Experience influencing product strategy
  • Data-driven approach to design decisions

    • Compensation: $240,000–$360,000 USD plus equity and benefits.
