This role is a 9-month engagement, working up to 40 hours per week.
What you'd be doing in this role
We're looking for a Senior Copywriter to help define and deliver Canva's brand voice inside our product.
You'll work closely with designers, product teams, marketers, and creative leads to shape in-product messaging, product toolkits, landing pages, product narratives, hype reels, and editorial experiences.
This role requires a very confident and capable creative writer—someone who can effectively be the bridge between Product, Marketing, and Brand.
At the moment this role is focussed on:
Writing and refine in-product copy across a wide range of surfaces, balancing clarity with personality
Translating complex product functionality into simple, empowering language
Creating messaging frameworks for key launches, including Canva Create, Canva World Tour, and Droptober
Developing scalable product toolkits that align Product, Marketing, and Brand
Ensuring consistency of tone, terminology, and positioning across all in-product surfaces
Collaborating with designers and creative leads from early ideation through to final execution
Contributing to early-stage conceptual thinking and creative ideation
Supporting keynote messaging alignment, ensuring product language ladders up to broader brand narratives
Maintaining exceptional editorial quality across all work
Guiding stakeholders on copy best practice, clarity, and consistency
You're probably a match if
You have proven experience as a copywriter, either agency or client-side (in-house)
You have strong understanding of brand marketing channels and best practices
You have strong familiarity with a spectrum of copy styles, from long-form content, like landing pages and hype reel scripts, and editorial, to placements that require a succinct approach
You have a passion for innovative, blue sky ideation and a strong desire to make impactful work that will help to build an iconic global brand
You're a great team player. Able to work in a dynamic, multi-skilled agile environment
You're a master storyteller, able to sell the brand and its products to myriad demographics and personas with a consistent tone of voice
You have attention to detail, style, and tone. You write with clarity and empathy and can write across a range of genres, styles, and tones
You have a good grasp of English, sentence construction, and grammatical structure
You bring others along for the ride. Set expectations with stakeholders, communicate openly across multiple teams
You're not precious. Open to giving and receiving feedback
