Position Details

**Salary Range:** $207,000 – $295,000/year

About the Team

The Monetization team is a new cross-functional group working across engineering, product, research, and design to build foundational systems that help OpenAI scale access to intelligence responsibly. The mission focuses on developing user-first, privacy-preserving monetization products—including next-generation advertising experiences—that strengthen user trust and unlock economic opportunity.

Monetization plays a critical role in enabling OpenAI to continue pushing the boundaries of AI capabilities while ensuring the benefits of AGI are broadly shared. The team operates in a greenfield environment and moves quickly through prototyping, experimentation, and iterative deployment.

What You'll Do

Build next-generation advertising tools for an AI-first world

Translate product principles—privacy, independence, choice, and trust—into concrete product and interaction decisions for advertiser-facing tools

Partner with product, engineering, research, and policy teams to define new monetization and ads surfaces, systems, and workflows from the ground up

Design user-facing controls for ad personalization, data usage, and opt-out flows, plus intuitive interfaces for advertisers to manage campaigns responsibly

Navigate complex tradeoffs between business needs, user trust, and long-term platform health

Create thoughtful artifacts that align cross-functional teams and guide execution across consumer and console experiences

Contribute to a design culture that values clarity, restraint, and responsibility alongside craft
