About the Team

The Web Presence and Platform team is organized into two pillars:

• Presence: Creates industry-leading designs for Stripe's public surfaces, educating customers about the platform and driving adoption
• Platform: Builds internal machinery that powers these surfaces, ensuring websites are fast, stable, and easy to update

What You'll Do

As a Design Engineer, you will concept, prototype, and build new experiences for Stripe's web presence. You'll work across the Stripe brand on evergreen pages and time-based campaigns. You'll utilize and contribute to design systems, create abstractions for other designers and engineers to consume, and maintain in-browser performance.

On the Collective pod specifically, you will help drive Stripe.com forward, bringing new experiences to life and refining existing content for prospective users.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with designers and partners to create new experiences and maintain Stripe.com
• Work closely with other design engineers, pairing and mentoring
• Prototype and implement web animations and interaction-heavy product launch materials
• Build beautiful, best-in-class end-user experiences
• Utilize, maintain, and extend design systems
• Integrate web platform with self-serve authoring and experimentation

Who You Are

Minimum Requirements

• 3+ years of relevant web front-end development or creative technology experience
• Advanced knowledge of modern HTML and CSS
• Experience writing clear, elegant code in a team environment
• A zeal for the web as a storytelling medium, demonstrable through a portfolio
• Experience designing and building public-facing websites across browsers and devices

Preferred Qualifications

• Understanding of formal design elements (typography, layout, balance, proportion)
• Proficiency with React, focusing on interactions, animation, performance, and polish
• Experience with A/B testing, synthetic monitoring, or accessibility testing

Work Arrangements

Hybrid work: Available in office or remote (35+ miles/56+ km from Stripe office)

In-office expectations: At least 50% of time in local office per month

Remote locations: Canada or United States

Compensation & Benefits

US base salary range: $146,400 - $219,600 annually

Additional benefits may include: Equity, company bonus, 401(k), medical/dental/vision coverage, wellness stipends
